Corporate Identity

A lot of large companies put corporate identity at the top of their prioity list. Why is that?

It’s because they want to stand out from the competition.

So, what is a company’s corporate identity?

Most people will say it’s the way a company looks to the outside world, ie the logo, literature, advertising, website, vehicle liveries and uniforms etc.

That’ right of course. But it’s only a small part of the true meaning of corporate identity.

How we define it as follows:

Corporate identity is the whole experience of how you feel when you deal with a company, from the way the telephone is answered, right through to how the invoice is presented. This whole experience is the true meaning of corporate identity.

An important part of a company’s identity is how the company appears to the outside world –  with a consistent look across all its promotional material. This makes the company’s material easy to recognise by the viewer and builds awareness. However, we have seen companies who have spent a lot of money of promotional material that promises a certain quality of product and level of service which is not delivered in reality. It might be as simple as the telephone not being answered, or their reception being untidy. Then a potential will probably be lost forever and all the money that has been spent on advertising has been wasted.

When we undertake a corporate identity we always ensure that whatever is promised is delivered or even exceeded. So, it’s always good practise to put yourself in a customers position and look at your customers journey from the start, when they have seen your online or offline promotional material, right through the sales and delivery point.
